Changing technology and demographics have entirely altered the way in which people consume news. To keep up with these trends, Indian news organisations – in both print and television – have transformed the way they do business. The changes have taken place not just in content but in every aspect of the business – from design to marketing, from finance to HR, and from distribution to cross-media integration.
The News Innovation Awards 2010 seek to identify and recognise truly path-breaking practices and initiatives in print and TV which will help take the news business profitably into the future without compromising the principles of ethical journalism. In seeking to put together innovation in the news business, the Awards, an afaqs! initiative, are probably the first of their kind in the world and will be judged by an eminent jury.
